A Parody Of Eminem’s And Dido’s Song Gets A Lot Of Traction On TikTok

TikTok is truly a global social network and different app depending on where you live today. As I found out during my travels to South America, Colombia, the tracks are predominantly in Spanish and trends are quite diverse compared to the United States.

As a content creator on the platform, I experienced a significant drop in views and engagement. Naturally, the algorithm adjusted its content and FYP page to show me what are the latest trends in Colombia.

One of those songs happens to be very popular and trending a lot is “Mi Bebito Fiu Fiu.” It is immediately recognizable from a song that was extremely popular in the early 2000s. As it turns out, the song in question is trending on TikTok and borrowed the melody from Eminem’s Stan song “Stan” and Dido’s “Thank You. In other words, it is a parody, but it basically the same song with different lyrics.

A Political Undertone Exists In This Spanish Single

Upon investigating the song, I stumbled upon the fact that the parody is inspired from the former president of Peru. The former head of state Martín Vizcarra had a WhatsApp conversation leaked between him and his alleged lover. Talk about something that seems right out of a soap opera or a Netflix show.

According to Remezcla dot com, the song was removed from Spotify after trending №1. Whether or not Eminem or the record label were going to reach out, it was for sure going to cost Tito Silvia and Tefi C. royalties sooner or later. But I guess they got away with it for now since it made quite the buzz on TikTok and inspired a billion views for its hastag #mibebitofiufiu.

Origins behind “Mi Bebito Fiu Fiu”

You are probably translating the title of the song already. The first part “Mi Bebito” is the equivalent of “My Baby” in endearing terms, but “Fiu Fiu” is a whole other topic. The words “Fiu Fiu” is an onomatopoeia for a whistling essentially. Totally romantic right? Hopefully it brought a giggle or a smile to your face.

Below are two additional videos that features the original artists that created the parody and a comedy-driven video, which showcases a dog.

The last video is newer trend. Unlike the other parodies this one shows the person throwing the phone on the ground after just hearing the first few words of the song that has already become an ear-worm.
