I remember writing about the TikTok audio leaks reported by Buzzfeed back in June, and the uproar it led to from many state officials demanding harsher restrictions on the popular app. Since the allegations were made public, TikTok was forced to testify and start to comply with the U.S government.

According to the NY Times, it was confirmed within the report that the Biden Administration and TikTok had drafted an initial agreement to start appeasing national security concerns. In addition, both sides have come to a consensus on what are the changes to be made with data security and governance without requiring owner to sell the company.

This tentative collaboration is a departure from the previous administration. The previous administration was to ban the app completely from the United States. I will expand on this claim in the next section.
