Bella Poarch, TikTok’s third most-followed account, revealed a new music video. The official release was May 13, 2020, and the title of the video is “Get a b….” It tackles her experiences of bullying as a child and the video clearly condemns the perception men to have towards women regarding their physical appearance.

Poarch has definitely departed from her first “M to the B” lip-syncing last year and has aimed to be a pop culture icon. She has already amassed close to 70 million followers. She is well on her way to perhaps unseating the most followed TikTok star Charlie D’Amelio.

Aside from her exponential rise on TikTok, she has never looked back. She builds an audience around lip-syncing and creating multi-faceted videos without any indicators of having musical talent. That is, until this release. But don’t kid yourself she has appeared alongside many influencers and existing TikTok stars to date.

About Bella’s video and themes

Poarch did not sugarcoat what she was trying to do in her video. She immediately embedded themes like men’s expectations of women and their appearance. It is evident from the title of the song and the footage of the video.

According to Insider dot com, her source of inspiration came from her experiences being bullied during her childhood. However, the bullying is subtle in the video while clearly the message is for feminism and trying to dismantle the patriarchy.

The video debut has been nothing but successful so far. To date the number of total views, at the time of writing this, 40,912,212 views. Is it possible it can go to 1 billion based on this initial boom? Very possible given the metrics accrued to date.

Bella has signed with Warner Brothers record label, as reported by Billboard. This marks the beginning of her musical career. Does this mean will TikTok become a secondary thing in the future? Impossible to know. Whatever is in store for her, we have not least the last of her, and she will continue to break barriers.

Special appearances in Poarch’s viral music video

Bella was able to build an audience early on TikTok during 2020. The pandemic benefited TikTok in a big way due to quarantine and health restrictions. In addition, add the controversial attempt by former President Donald Trump to ban the app from the United States. Whether it was intentional or not it certainly provided plenty of free publicity.

The list of special guests or superstars includes the following names: The Larray, ZHC, Valkyrae, Mia Khalifa, Dina, Sub Urban, Bretman Rock, and Rakhim.

Back on September 10th, 2020 I duetted the video. It is a feature content creators can access with famous content creators to do a reaction or put their own spin on it. Here is mine with her and listen to her vocals:

Takeaways and conclusions

As it was said before, TikTok is here to stay. It has made social media competition that much more fierce in the U.S. You have now Reels, Spotlight, YouTube Shorts, and a host of others.

Bella Poarch has written the first chapter and more to come. The question I leave with you is are you on TikTok? If you are great. If you are not, I suggest you join and find like-minded people while escaping a bit of the drama from Facebook and company.
