Lawmakers In The U.S Introduce New Legislation To Ban TikTok, Again
This seems like Déjà vu all over again with TikTok getting banned. According to Reuters, a bipartisan effort was introduced on Tuesday, which aims at banning the app altogether from the U.S. The reasons over this initiative stem from fears that the Chinese government is spying and accessing user data.
The legislation was introduced by Republican Senator Marco Rubio, Republican congressman Mike Gallagher and Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi. The legislation project if passed would block all transactions form any social media company in or under the influence of China and Russia.
A TikTok spokesperson explained in the press release, this recent development is politically motivated since the company is finalizing its national security review with the Biden Administration.
