Makeba hashtag on TikTok has 530 million views.

Is it M to the B? Is it the Renegade? Nope, it’s the Makeba trend! With all the talk of banning TikTok this new sound is taking short-form videos and the world by storm. It started out on TikTok and suprisingly everywhere.

It has never happened to me when I scroll on three different apps the same trend/song appears so many times. You know what is even more crazy? I did not like or comment on any of the videos. However, it is clear that this trend will be promoted for a while.

5 Facts about the Makeba TikTok Trend

A meme helped kickstart this trend

Ironically, a meme started the frenzy and wildfire for Makeba.

According to the Daily Dot, the Bill Hader meme ushered the popularity of this popular and annoying summer trend. I mean how good is it? Leave it in the comment section.

What is also contributing to the millions of views is a CapCut template offered to active users, so they can put their creative spin on it. So many different creative videos, but most of them have chosen to dance.

The Singer Of Makeba Is French? Oui, Oui!

The lyrics are mostly in English, but the beat is very catchy. As reported by Know Your Meme dot com, the original French singer and songwriter is Jain. A lot of folks will overlook this fact. They care more about dancing of the beat.
