The Verdict On Labor Unions And Reported Strikes that Occurred in 2022
I have to say these past two years in education has been synonymous to a rollercoaster. You never know what you are going to get on any given day. In fact, being part of Minneapolis Public Schools last year and voting in favor of the strike was unimaginable with all the challenges I lived through.
The reason I have chosen this topic yet again because it stems from an email I received about Labor Unions. The analysis is very detailed by ResumeLab and I wanted to offer you an educational lens instead of the politicized discourse you read and hear on the news constantly without a proper context.
According to ResumeLab, the first documented strike was in1619 with the Jamestown Polish craftsmen’s strike. As noted in the post, there were more larger strikes:
- The Great Southwest Railroad Strike (1886),
- The Great Anthracite Coal Strike (1902)
- The Bituminous Coal Strike (1946)
- The Caterpillar Strike (1994–95)
Of course there are countless other strikes that happened in the United States, but for the sake of history its important to see where it all started and where are we headed.
