The Year 2024 Will See TikTok Banned From The United States?
Since 2020 under the presidency of Donald Trump, no president had since de advent of apps had questioned a social media platform. At that time Trump sought to ban the Chinese social network through an executive order. In the end he was not successful since a judicial court rejected the request of the former president (current nominee of the Republican party for the 2024 presidential elections).
According to a CNN news report, there is apparently interest in again trying to ban TikTok in the US due to links to the Chinese company ByteDance. The Energy and Commerce Committee in the House of Representatives has already approved a new measure to restrict TikTok. As of today the House of Representatives have voted in favor of the measure and it is now in the Senate.
